Let me start at the very beginning. Even if you are like me, a little impatient, want to start right away after you got home with your puppy and the clicker.....take your time. Just a little.
The very first step is to play with the clicker, get used to it: how does it sound? How quickly can you click? Practice, without your puppy first. You might want to set your training pouch (I will give you one with the clicker), fill it up with treats. Food is a very powerful motivation for dogs, therefore it is a very effective tool for training. I usually make it simple and make a little pile of bacon, cut up into little pieces- you don't want your dog to be full. Just a tiny little peace at a time:)
Practice first without your dog's present. Pretend that she is there, see how you will do the click and give her the treat. The simplified steps are these:
Say the command
Click
Give a treat
Well, it's not that simple. There are a few things to remember, but it's not that difficult.
